The rapid proliferation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and in particular the lower tier of NATO Class 1 platforms, has dramatically increased their presence in military operations. The characteristics of those platforms are challenging traditional air defence systems, prompting the development of new defense means. This presentation will highlight some of the challenges posed by small UAS (sUAS), as well as some considerations linked to sensors, effectors, and collateral damage induced by the use of such systems.
