The current geopolitical situation highlights the importance of strategic autonomy, especially in a domain such as defence and security. To support an effective implementation of the Belgian Defence, Industry and Research Strategy initiated in 2022, the project Belgian Economic Potential in the Industry of Defence and Security (BEPIDS) set out to provide foundations for making policy choices that are relevant and legally sound. The main objectives of the project are to map the relevant legal entities of the Belgian Defence Technological and Industrial Base (BDTIB) to more easily identify where the BDTIB could contribute to patching capability gaps and entering new value-chains (e.g. EDF) and to develop a policy toolkit to facilitate support the BDTIB in line with EU law. The webinar will present a broad overview of the results of the project.
