The finite element method (FEM) is probably best known for its numerous applications in structural mechanics and mechanical engineering. Over the past four decades, it has also gradually become ubiquitous for the modelling of engineering problems in all areas of electromagnetism, from electrostatics to wave propagation. The presentation will illustrate various FEM tools and applications used in electromagnetics. Specificities associated with Maxwell's equations will briefly be highlighted.
